PROS: -Long battery life
-That / light
-High build quality
CONS: – It works too hot
– Some type of coil in Windows (not Linux)
Overall rating: Overall, I am quite happy with this laptop. The only thing that bothers me is the heating problems. The frustrating part is that there is a lot of juice in the machine, but thermal acceleration is activated long before it can get there. So keep this in mind if you plan to play a lot. Others have managed to update the CPU, although I have not tried it yet. A refreshing pillow would probably help a lot too.
Since then, I installed an additional 16 GB of RAM and added another nvme SSD. I have this dual boot Windows / Linux machine and I am satisfied with the performance on both.
A note about complaining about the coil: I can usually hear the disc making noise, but the sound is amplified. I can also hear the mouse moving across the screen … a bit annoying, but it can be reduced by lowering the mouse’s query speed. My suspicion is that the sound card has to be close since the machine is like a mouse in Linux, and the unit is further away, as I had imagined. I’ve heard of others with the same problem, but it doesn’t seem to be very common.
Others have mentioned that they don’t like the keyboard. I got used quite quickly and I really like it. It feels robust and receptive. However, there is a key (the 1 on the numeric keypad) that does not seem to register as easily as the others, so I have to press it a little more. Otherwise there are no problems.
