Razer Thresher Ultimate. Let me start by saying I’m really old … really old, especially when it comes to games (I started playing in my mid-forties) and until 3 years ago I just decided to use the headphones that came with the device to “upgrade” a Microsoft headphone for 50. I was completely satisfied with this headphone until I broke it one way or another and maybe it fell on it. My teenage son was bragging about his first grade Astros all the time. So, after hours of searching and trying to get the best out of the best headphones that read all the reviews, I chose the Razer Thresher Ultimate. I didn’t want to worry about syncing it with my Xbox one S and solving potential pairing issues.
I also didn’t want to buy an additional equalizer to get Dolby Surround sound. I also didn’t want to spend more than bucks, and I swore I would never spend more than a hundred. But since my 55th birthday was just around the corner, I decided I deserved it. Not to mention that I am fed up with destroying it on BlackOps 4, and at my age I need every feature I can get. So I discovered that it might be useful to hear footsteps and where the bullets flew. The only thing that immediately built me is the quality of the packaging and the materials themselves, very high quality. It was nice to see and feel how the money you spent got quality. I found it a little confusing to set up my Razer ID and register my product. This means getting an ID and then registering it, but when you do that, does it ask you for a Razer ID? I just decided to skip the Razer ID field and enter my information. Once I did that, I was given my ID. Another confusing part was entering the product number. Well, there are two of them, one for the hub and the other for headphone, and it’s not clearly marked on the case. Once you’re done, it’s time to set it up. This was easy even for someone like me to follow the small instructions in the booklet.
What I did not like is that the booklet did not include how to use volume controls. I know what you think, how difficult is that? I’m old again and can’t read microscopic symbols on the headphone. So at first I couldn’t hear anything, then I could just chat and not hear the game. I tried in vain to raise and lower the wheels, but I either blew my eardrum with the sound of the game and I couldn’t hear my colleagues, or vice versa. Finally, I decided to check the website and find support. After clicking on the product, there is a link to the main tour on the left that clearly shows the two wheels. One of the wheels is the balance between game size and chatting, and the other thumb wheel is the total volume that can be pressed to mute the microphone, which I’m not a fan of. I would prefer to flip the microphone to mute it, as with some other headphones. I don’t know why this information was not included in the brochure that was included in the package ?! Now that you know it, it takes some time to find the right balance. I dislike it, if thumb thumbs up or down, a tone will sound. The problem is that it is the same tone and you can continue to spin so that it does not stop. I think if you go all the way in one direction it will stop and you can work the way back but no.
Also, I’m not sure if you’re a fan of the retractable microphone. Maybe it’s better than flipping so it won’t break easily? But time will tell. Now comes the audio review part. He hears enough sound to hear, and in fact it is so loud that it sounds like one of those cinemas where sound is deaf. There are 0 delays and the chat is clear, although I hear some crackling from time to time, but it disappears quickly. My friends say they can hear my voice well, and it sounds clear. The ear cups are comfortable enough that my glasses won’t squeeze to the head and my ear, unlike the old headphones, where I had to take it off, it remains a little cool because I couldn’t bear how hot my ears were. I think it’s a bit heavy with metal support above the headband, but maybe that’s a good thing if it doesn’t break so easily? Another thing that I like is that you can leave them online to play if you forgot for any reason charging the night before. And they give you really long cables to do that.
